Michael,

I'd probably say that the best thing to do is to try out the "lite" version
of the VSD Control package and see how well it fits your needs.

However, remember that the VSD* Product range will probably evolve to be a
lot more powerful than solutions such as PLESK which aren't designed to
administer Virtual Servers specifically. For example, I attended a meeting
with the CEO of Idaya a couple of months back and he told me that they have
big plans for what these programs will eventually be able to do: Things
like moving Virtual Servers between machines on the fly, switching skels on
a per-VS basis, skels with options for complete customisation (whereby you
can choose exactly what parts of a skel a VS links to) etc... I was
certainly quite excited by what I heard.

Hope this helps,

Ben Kennish

Ben,

I'm trying to decide if I will implement a straight
RedHat with WebAdmin or something like
FreeVSD + VSDControl for my new web hosting
platform. I will be selling hosting packages for
my individual web site customers as well as
considering reseller packages if I go with FreeVSD +
the VSDControl package.

Advice on the decision would be appreciated, I',m
having a devil of a time with this decision and
comparison with other commercial packages like
PLESK...

Regards,

Mike Roesch
