Suggested change to vsd-vsbatch.pl....
If the temp file exists, it echoes out the fact that it is exiting
because of this.
NB: How about vsd-vsbatch.pl has a constant called CRONJOB and that if
this is set to 0, information is echoed to the screen else it isn't?

I have had the same problem. In my case, there was a lock file in /tmp
directory. When vsdadm or vsd-vsbatch.pl gets Segmentation fault error,
the lock file stays in /tmp, and vsd-vsbatch.pl do not work properly.
So, I just deleted the lock file, and it worked finally.
I have had the problem on 1.4.8.
