I have only been on this list for about a month, and just resently installed
and set up freeVSD on a server of mine. I greatly like the product, however
what they are doing now is VERY wrong. I totally agree with Dave, and I
will stand against them!

Don.

Paul,

>Dave, I do not work for Idaya; however, why not check it out of CVS--or
even

I will buy CD when Idaya pays for my time spent on FreeVSD. I think that
you're missing the point. FreeVSD is GPL. It's up to each user of FreeVSD to
decide how to support the community. It's not Idaya who developed FreeVSD
(the source for virtuald for example has been around much before Idaya was
founded for example. I personally had a freevsd-like project which was
dropped because freevsd had a better community). WE, the COMMUNITY developed
it. Idaya had a big part of this, but they never declined help or patches
from US.

Now imagine if redhat pulled out the plug, and started selling RedHat Linux
only on CD. Imagine if Linus Torvalds decided that Linux is it's own and
that if you wanted it, then you would have to buy it. How would the rest of
the people who spent money and time and efforts on these project feel? A GNU
project is owned by everybody, and everybody should contribute.

You mention CVS. Yes, I have the CVS source. But how long you think this
source will be there? Do you expect idaya to release 1.4.11 there? If they
do, it will be only because of the efforts of ppl like me who will take them
in front of the FSF if necessary.

To my eyes idaya is making business out of mine and others efforts *for
free*. Have you seen the pricing structure of ProVSD? In not, do it, and
you'll understand why I think we should stop them.

Dave.
