Yes, and you spect those changes and projects which includes that code returns the modifications. > advantage. This is perfectly natural I mean if I when to an ISP and said hey > I have this great product FreeVSD that I can install for you and I want you > to pay me then what is to stop them saying I will just download it free and > do it ourselves. Brendan, you're totally wrong... The fact that an Open Source project is available to the public doesnt mean all the companies will want to download an install by themselves, there's where Idaya commercial support shows, BUT they have the right to download and test the code, and either drop the tech support, in the case that they found that supporting the software by their own personal is easier and cheaper. Now, its not valid (from an ethic point of view) to make the source available with flaws or limited functionality to force users to buy the CD and contract the tech support. > It is only natural that an open source project of this size should lag > behind after all why should the core developers put themselves out of a job > by making FreeVSD better than ProVSD and stopping any successes their sales > people might have which would allow them to continue development. If Idaya developers will stop putting time of work into the FreeVSD project, then i'll spect them to say so, that will clarify my vision of the project and then i'll be able to make a decision. > per user basis and working closely with ISPs. They need market exposure > before they start charging big prices people need to be using this software. Open Source can help a lot with that, but only if the open source community is commited to the project, which at this stage, i doubt it.
