Going the pexpect way, would probably be much faster to achieve

I've written a prototype: https://github.com/scios/fricas_kernel. It's 
incredible simple compared to a 'full' kernel and surprisingly stable. One 
could build on this wrapper version to explore its limits before attempting 
the hard way ;)

p.s. forgot to mention the link to the pre-filter version in my former 
post: https://bitbucket.org/kfp/fricasipy. However, I do not recommend it 
(outdated). This new wrapper method is by far superior.
