Well, I have some comments:

1) You are just searching for the FriCAS prompt pattern. You could have
used the iohooks to inject a very specific string that makes it easier
to detect prompt, latex, and type.

2) Maybe it would be a good idea to already test my new TexFormat.
   Something I could probably try to investigate.

3) I'm definitely for option (B), i.e., something without pexpect.
   What exactly do you think can be tested with your prototype.

Anyway, I like to be able to run fricas locally in the browser. Wonderful.
