I don't understand this question. I can't tell if you want a program to run your modem or to connect to a machine over a network. Because for the modem, Minicom does in fact do screen capture and file transfers via x/y/z-modem etc. Wanting to do ssh or telnet doesn't realy make much sense to me in this context. I assume you must be expressing the desire for a graphical telnet/ssh client (like Putty is for Windows) with sz/rz autorecognition a la Minicom. It does seem a strange fit for a Linux system, so I think you're going to have a hard time finding it. After all, we already have excellent terminals, a plethera of file tranfer protocols, and telnet/ssh options. Too much abundance for someone to write a catch-all program.
