Mark,

Perls before Swine amigo ....

There's a ton of asp and java fanatics crawling out of the woodwork looking
to thrash on CF - due to a missed earnings projection - a projection that
they themselves did not make, but rather an aanalyst made. Java fanatical
"short sellers" all over the stock boards pronouncing sure DOOM, and its all
cuz the use "proprietary code" ......

"Its their proprietary code I tell ya... nobody wants it..." All hail
Gosling!

Just to comment on that Toy Company (and others like it), I believe you're
referring to Toys-R-Us, right? They had bigger issues than programming
problems. They also had fulfillment issues. Quoting an article in the
Interactive week:

Louis Trager: "Do the failures of online toy retailers - such as
Disney-backed Toysmart.com and ToyTime.com - reflect a fundamental weakness
in the category's potential?"

Chief Executive John Barbour: "The long-term growth prospects are
tremendous. Forrester Research is forecasting a 71 percent annual compounded
growth rate in the online toy and video game market over the next five
years. The majority of Toysrus.com's customers are women, and by next year
women online are expected to grow to 45 million and overtake the number of
men online by 2002."

There's no piece of software on this planet that could have prevented that
problem.
