First, not everyone likes using Java because of the fact you have to run
extra stuff (JVM) on a webserver.

Second, I agree that XML and Java is probably the way to go, BUT lets face
it, for most simple XML stuff on a website all you need is IE 5 and above on
the machine and you have the MSXML object. The coding (as can be seen from
my code and from siteobjects stuff) is actually pretty simple for doing
basic XML manipulation.

Thirdly (and I have tried to use it) I don't use much Java (if any) and the
problem is that there isn't a huge amount of documentation on how to use the
objects whereas with Microsoft (the advantage of being a large company that
produces all the software) they have a whole website devoted to how to use
the MSXML object.

PS If you want to put up some sample code on the list, I'm sure that I and
others would be very appreciative.

PPS I will be moving towards (not necessarily over to) the Java side (or is
it the Dark Side) so that I don't get left behind when CF5 comes along and
integrates with JRUN.
