I agree.  However, in my app URL links appear on a page a 100 times or more.

So my using ULR links like http://www.MyApp.com/HL/LL/OA/OO/index.cfm saves 
sending 100 x 4 x 10 = 4000 or more characters to the user, contrasted when 
directory names are an average of 12 characters long.
