Sorry Jeff,

I sure wasn't meaning any criticism of Hal's methods at all.  I'm just saying that I have seen him use CF_QuerySim, and I have also seen him use a simple zero-row SQL query.  I like them both - I think they are both very sweet. I had never seen the SQL idea before, and I thought that people might find it interesting - I know that I sure did - but I would still recommend the CF_QuerySim method, as I'm sure Hal would too.  The reason I would recommend the CF_QuerySim is that that tag has so many other great uses, so why not leap into it and get acquainted.

Sorry if there was some misunderstanding.  I certainly wasn't trying to attack a straw man, Jeff - not only was there no straw man, but there was no attack either.  Hal's de Man!

Erm, Hal has been recommending an empty QuerySim-generated recordset for form
reuse for, let's see, close to a year now.  Seems like a straw-man to say he does
something else and then recommend the very technique he uses as a better
alternative.

FWIW,
