I wasn't aware of the issue in Acrobat 8. I always use the preview function before I compose and didn't want to actually compose until I resolved this issue but based on the information you provided I decided to go ahead and compose the one record to see what would happen and you were right! My original rule using the entity worked the entire time - it just wasn't previewing correctly. I'll be sure to check this in the future if I come across it again.
