Each day I try harder to see the obvious which I have been
trained not to recognize. The world's longest running fashion show
is the emperor's new clothes (I had this idea after seeing
a still frame from an old Fellini film in which the runway
models were showing off papal vestments).
I think we all need to get clear that the Talibans (and the
ultra-orthodox jews in Israel, etc.) are all a bunch of
*PARASITES*. They don't produce anything but live off
subsidies and/or exactments from the general population.
But, of course, they do produce something: The Taliban
produce punishments for people disobeying their rules,
and the ultra-orthodox in Israel produce davening(sp?). --
not to mention lots of metastases (I meant: children like
themselves).
On NPR, there was recently a story about the Taliban,
in which it was documented that a woman cannot leave
her house without the escort of a male relative. If the
woman is sick and shows up at a hospital emergency
room without a male relaive escort, she is denied
treatment. Women are dying because they cannot
leave their houses (one woman in the story had recently
lost her 20 year old daughter this way).
I think it is important to realize that "capitalists"
are not the only exploiters of the working class.
There are also the "men of God". One solution
to all these problems (albeit a solution that would
take about 75 years to carry out) is for everybody
to stop having children, so that the oppressors will
be left with only themselves to oppress -- some of the
Anarchists of the WW-I era actually had this idea.
