I agree with you, Pete, but we just can't do that.  We are part pragmatist and 
scientist, but also part speculator and philosopher.  Being the latter, we need 
to venture out into the realm of the unknown -- far out.  Where would the world 
be without Plato and Aristotle or, more currently, the existentialists or 
Thomas Merton?  I don't think it would be interesting at all.  But then I have 
to admit that I've spent most of my life in the clouds.
