Smith cited this proverb in order to ridicule it but it might be what we are
seeing at this time.  Culture develops in ways we don't fully understand.
Gregg says many things that ring true, just wish he didn't keep citing Al
Gore so often.

 

There is clearly a reaction to modernism going on in Islam and probably
going on in western society as well.  Expressed in ways that seem odd but
nonetheless the reaction is there whether we like it or not.
