What do you think the Republicans would have done about Hitler
and Japan?

Alas that America is probably the most sexually hypocritical
country this side of the Taliban and the Wasabis (or whatever
they are called).

And a lot of people *liked* him, too!

I disagree about Gore. I don't think he has done *anything*.

I think the Republicans are walking on eggshells, because
they have not replaced all the institutions of the
old regime yet -- somebody still could spoil their
plans. Bush would
like to spit on anybody who does not toady to him,
but he dare not yet. Cheney dare not yet put a crown on his
so deserving head even though he knows one belongs there. But Rumsfeld
is more impatient. Rumsfeld tells it like he sees it.
Civil liberties are for wimps. Due process is bullshit.
And Rumsfeld even smirks about all this stuff. Rumsfeld
is where he belongs: in Special Forces, going down in those
Al Qaeda tunnels and pulling Osama and his lieutenants out
and interrogating them the way it should be done.

Bush and friends are just getting started. I don't think
we've seen anything yet (although workers not being allowed
to go to the toilet is probably a good indication of what's
coming).
