My elders and betters rubbed that piece of hokum in my face
every time I opened my mouth -- from the time I
was maybe 7 years old -- to possibly suggest they
were less than the Platonic-Good-beyond-Being and
I should be infinitely and eternally grateful for having
that entirely undeserved blessing bestowed on me -- the
selfish little "Who do you think you are?" I was and
still am [they have not killed me yet].
For perhaps the only time in my life,
I "listened". I've been working on this point for about 30
(well, maybe 20? 15?) years now. Every day. Practice
makes perfect! The more one does it the easier it
gets. "Never again."
I think I am one "leftie" to whom your horror vacui does
not apply.
I never had the luxury and I worked hard to not need it.
Or do I misperceive myself? Do I only criticize and not
propose what I at least think are better alternatives --
and don't I also provide reasons to support them? I think
I know what a citation is, "and this be our motto, in
audit trails we trust". (Whether you agree
with my proposals and my reasons is, I think you will agree,
a different question.)
