Ray, Thank you for your interesting account. Most of what you write about is well outside my experience so I really can't make any constructive comment -- except to say that you've obviously worked very hard and made commitments to the world of music that I couldn't have made. Furthermore, your views and mine of the future role of music, on matters of state subsidies, on copyright and several other aspects of 'serious' art are very different but there's no need to rake these over again.
