Thanks Keith, I just had dinner tonight with one of the two greatest teachers I have experienced. They are so elderly and the world will miss them greatly but have no idea. They are the ones who have given. We simply walk in their magnificent foot prints.
The best to you in this venture. I must say however that speaking about the future of work and the theories that have gotten us to this artistic depression, or should I say equilibrium depression, have not been truly discussed on this list at all. Why must the idea of work only come from a place of satisfied monetary security but spiritual and cultural poverty? Not many people have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Josquin or Palestrina. In the past if you were to study with these folks they would give you a copy of their score and tell you to copy it. Beethoven copied whole symphonies overnight. Like your comment about jumping into the "doing", that is what happens with the Art. Now the next question that Haydn would ask would be "how did you understand that which you copied?" But that was a question for Beethoven. However, if you understand a little you will be walking in the steps of the ecstasy of the Gods. Today we have millions for Hip-Hop. And yet I heard counterpoint in a Hip-hop album the other day. Perhaps the kids are listening more to what you are doing then you realize. Perhaps in that church choir in Indonesia for all of that rice. Keep up the good work and enjoy. That is real work and for the purpose that Utility was designed. For the development of pleasure. Pleasure is the sensation given by the Gods to make sure we do the right thing.
