Hi Greg, I'm using GNOME session on Ubuntu Breezy system but I have replaced metacity by fvwm 2.5.14. I have the full functionality of fvwm and I can use the few useful features of Gnome (gnome-panel with some applets and the predefined menus). I didn't see any problems up to now.
In the past I had many problems when I tried to use gnome-panel inside a "fvwm session". Sometimes deleting old lock-files in several .gnome*, .gconf* directories solved the problem. In some cases I had to remove the whole GNOME related setyp (~/gconf*, ~/.gnome*).
