I based my reasoning on the fact that apparently, fvwm descends from
twm, at least according to the manual page:

       Robert  Nation with help from many people, based on twm code, which was
       written by Tom LaStrange.

Thank you very much for your friendly and optimistic outlook. I had half
a mind to change from ctwm to fvwm, as long as I could avoid those ugly
wide window titlebars that most window managers have. I won't bother
now.
