No.. The NIC doesn't, it is on it own separate subnet....

Unfortunately alot of networking issues require a huge whiteboard to explain
clearly...

When NT recognizes an IP assigned to a NIC (an interface) it lists it in
"route print".... as the IP A.B.C.D (the interface) blah blah blah
127.0.0.1..

Your new NIC has an IP of 127.0.0.1 ?  That's the loopback address.  You
don't assign a hardware NIC to the loopback.  Pick something else.
