Hi My experience of Wireless cards is pretty limited to OSX 10.2 and above, but I have used some in OS8 and OS9.
The WaveLAN silver cards work fine with some very hard to find wireless drivers floating around on the net. I got my PowerBook 1400 with a WaveLAN Silver card and it was fine. Here is a list of wireless cards I have tried and tested or have on good authority work http://www.simonroyal.co.uk/html/maccards.html The Motorola WN825G mentioned works in 10.2.8 and above as an Airport card, but below this I don't know. I know it is a Broadcom based card the same as Airport. I had a Belkin card that required these drivers and worked fine in 10.4 Simon --- http://www.simonroyal.co.uk - Mac news, reviews, guides, upgrades, hacks and more... - http://www.nmug.org.uk - webmaster for Norwich Mac User Group - The box said requires Windows XP or better, so I bought an Apple Mac. If this was a card that was previously recognized as "Airport", there was specific version of Tiger's 802.11 kext that had a .plist file that contained all the 3- party card descriptions, and if you had a newer .plist it would only contain the "Apple" cards, so you'd have to manually replace or copy these 3-party .plist info. The specific identifier you need can be found in System Profiler under Vendor ID and Device ID. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
