I wouldn't say there was a massive improvement. It certainly is nippier and
better at handling lots of things at once.

But really the jump from a 400 to a 550 isn't that great even it it was on
the same processor spectrum. But a G3 400 to a G4 550 should be quite a big
jump in speed.

Can I ask, was yours a 400mhz G3 originally?

So I guess I already have it then. If that is the case I would stay
clear of the CPU upgrade - unless you've got money to burn. Honestly,
I cant' really see any difference. But I did read people saying that
it was a big improvement... but I can't see how. Unless I have done
something wrong. Or had too high expectations!

I've just done search on my apple Software Update and it is telling
me that I haven't got Security Update 2008-006 (PowerPC) - though I
can't see how that would improve the speed. But as I say I'm pretty
naive on these matters.

I'm reluctant to download as last time I downloaded security update
it seemed to send my system funny and I had to reload.

Cheers
