Simon 50mhz isn't a huge jump, but G3 to G4 isn't either.
Mine is a 400Mhz so I would notice a bigger upgrade. The first G4 towers used the same motherboard as late G3 towers just swapped the chips so it shows that there isn't much difference in system architecture. It will be expensive and if I can do it I will or I might just look for a 500Mhz G3 processor card instead. When I signed up to broadband, the minium computer figuration was 500/550mhz. My experience of broadband prior to getting my Pismo was on my ibook clamshell 300mhz. It was painful, for a while... and video was a complete no... no. I saw a big improvement with the Pismo. And it didn't cost me as much as a new Macbook pro. And I always lusted after one when they were new, but took the clamshell. Though a Macbook pro shouldn't be long in the coming...! As lovely as the Pismo is, something bang-up to date would just make life that 'little' bit smoother and even more of a pleasure.
