This sounds counter-intuitive, but sometimes you can remove Sharpie
marks with a Sharpie.  Scribble over the old marking and immediately
(while it's still wet) wipe it off.  The solvent in the fresh marking
can rehydrate the old marking & cause it to be able to be wiped off.
Of course, this depends on the surface, and probably wouldn't work on
cloth, but I have used this method on different types of plastic.
