Of the four models: 333 MHz Lombard, 400 MHz Lombard, 400 MHz Pismo and 500 MHz Pismo, the distinctions are these: 333 MHz Lombard: requires DVD decoder card to use DVD Player. 400 MHz Lombard: DVD decoder is built-in on the mobo. 400 MHz Pismo: ditto. 500 MHz Pismo: ditto. At one point, my 500 MHz Pismo was my fastest Mac, by B&W being 350 or 400 MHz, I can't remember which. The Pismo is a superior design, not just because it has Firewire, but because the CPU card was redesigned to allow for so-called "high profile" SDRAM cards. The Lombard CPU card has two "low profile" SDRAM positions. The Pismo CPU card has one "high profile" and one "low profile" SDRAM positions. All must be "low density", and none may be "stacked" (two RAM chips on top of each other). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
