I'm not entirely clear on something here--are you just preemptively worrying about the AC/Sound board going bad and expecting that it WILL happen, or did you obtain knowing that the board in question was ALREADY flakey? If it's the former, then relax, you've probably got better things to worry about! :-) If it goes bad, it goes bad. Life counseling aside, the AC/Sound board _did_ go bad on my Pismo after about 5 or 6 years of use. It's a bit of a pain in the you-know-what to replace since you have to remove every single component to get at it, including the LCD (though at least you don't have to disassemble the LCD itself). Took me about 4-5 hours of work to do the job with a good 7 or 8 bowls and cups to hold all the screws. But at least I didn't wind up with a "spare" screw at the end of the job like I did with my iBook G4. That was about 3 years ago and it's still going strong. FWIW.
