I keep getting a spinning pinwheel of doom on my G4 DVI TiBook that is not logging anything with the system, and is grinding everything to a halt, eventually.
10.5.5, 768mb RAM, connected to the network via Airport. I suspect it's got to do with Safari (3.something, not the 4.0 beta) because it seems to happen when I go off to a web site, I'll get a SPOD, Safari will stop responding, and I cannot launch new programs...they'll bounce in the dock for a long time before failing. I have menu meters on, and my CPU is NOT pegged when this happens, nor is my memory full. I have top running in a terminal window at the time and it will freeze as well, stop updating. Nothing unusual is showing up in the logs when this happens. I do notice that when this happens, my network ceases to function as well, I cannot ping anything. Eventually everything but the SPOD and mouse pointer ceases to function, and all I can do is force a power off by holding the power switch down. This does not seem to be a heart-related issue, as the system isn't unusually warm at this point.
