Hmmm. Never heard about that port. My clamshell is the first version.

I had (and now have again) the same charging problem. The DC port
is on a postage stamp sized board mounted on the mail logic board.
the port broke loose from the small board. I soldered it back, but
evidently didn't bent the solder tab enough when I did the soldering
and the port broke loose again. I just haven't had the motivation
to disassemble the thing again for another try at a fix. Good luck!
