I took a look at my poor old Clamshell and, sure enough, there are the ports. A bit of Googling turned up only one mention of "charging ports for a 'custom made' rack, probably for educational institutions." I strongly suspect that the port can only accept DC current, and then only at the voltage produced by the original power adapter (yo-yo). There is no way the Clamshell has the internal circuitry to convert AC to DC. Also, I would suspect that the two terminals are polarized. Which is positive? I didn't see any external markings.
