As an FYI, my Powerbook would never power a USB-bus-only external drive, even using the double-headed USB cord that came with it. I picked up one of those AC-to-USB adapters normally used for charging USB devices, and plugged the drive into it, and the drive can now power up and be used by the Powerbook. Not as convenient, but it works. Got the charger from Mo for a very good price, too, BTW. :)
