Hiya Listers,

Could any of you please kindly tell me what to do to get a new external
Firewire drive to show up on the desktop of a G3 iBook?

Yes, the external drive is good, and so are the Firewire cables -- the
external drive shows up fine on my G4 Quicksilver's desktop with either
of my two Firewire cables. Also, if I start the iBook in target disk
mode (connected to the external HD), its HD appears on the Quicksilver's
desktop -- which is nice/shows the Firewire equipment is good, but I
need for the Firewire drive icon to appear on the iBook's desktop like
it does on the Quicksilver, it's "easier" for my backwards brain to move
data that way.

The iBook is a G3/800. The external HD is an OWC Mercury Elite 500 GB,
currently in 2 partitions (may change this to 3 or 4 once I get this
iBook business straightened out).

Thanks so much,

~Yersinia.
