I noticed that some NewerTech enclosures seem to have newer firmware, v.113 instead of v.110, but I don't see an update or firmware available. The stuff that came up dealt with different external HDs/Macs (and in one case a different OS -- one article said "Leopard incompatibility" and I'm running Tiger) from what I'm running, and nothing seemed similar to my problems. <This is less likely, but there also could be the issue with the firmware of the HD itself. If the HD is a Seagate, many of the 500 GB Seagate HDs were shipped with bad firmware. In fact, I had asked him what kind of drive was inside the enclosure when ordering the unit in the first place because I'd heard about the bad Seagate 500 GB - 1.5 TB drives and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to end up with one.
