Heres something to try if the other stuff doesn't work: A). 1. Take out battery and let it sit overnight or longer. This drains the backup battery and the rest of the system (residual energy in capacitors).
2. plug it in and let it sit a few days. Don't unplug during this time ! This charges the backup battery. B) contact powerbookguy.com. Several times I have contacted them and they have given me both diagnosis and repair strategy and estimate (probably more than you want to pay, but you never know). He started in 1997 and he knows a lot.
