I've had excellent luck loading Tiger onto hard drives for clamshells
by removing the hard drive & plugging them into a FireWire enclosure,
then loading the OS directly from a regular desktop, like your GigE
via the FireWire. The beautiful thing is that you do not need to
bother with Xpost Facto to load, nor to run the OS once you've re-
installed the HD. You also can load the OS directly from the GigE's
optical drive, without jumping thru any hoops. It's a pain in the
patooie getting at the hard drive in a clamshell, but worthwhile. You
can use the opportunity to upgrade the HD while you're at it. Tiger
runs surprising well on a clamshell, especially if you slap a 512 Meg
ram stick in there.
