Another option: At one time CPU upgrade kits were made - I have a Wall Street
(originally 233MHz) with a 500 MHz G3 upgrade in it. It replaces the CPU
module completely - about a 30 minute install process at most.
I have 512MB of RAM on board and run OS X 10.3.9 on it (I'd like to goto 10.4
but have yet to solve the no-dvd drive issue) and it runs fine except for
things like playing video where even a 500 MHz G3 is marginal.
I don't know if the upgrade kits can be found or not anymore, but that might be
the most relaible and safest way to get to a faster CPU.
