As Wolfram said, a CPU upgrade is a much better choice. They are still around although not new obviously and still come up for sale on places like LEMSwap or ebay every now and then. I bought a Sonnet G4/500 upgrade for my Wally off ebay two years ago for $60 and it runs like a champ. It is still not a video encoding or Photoshop powerhouse but is a pleasant upgrade for this Powerbook. At a rough guess ( and this is without running any benchmark tests ) I'd say my Wallstreet G4/500 and 512mb Ram using OS10.2.3 is about the same as my Pismo G3/400 and 1Gb ram using OS10.4.8 The main difference that I find is that the Finder seems to be a lot snappier on the Wallstreet. I should upgrade the OS so both are the same and then download and run one of the benchmarking apps.
