I know you're set on the iPad, but just keep in mind that it's not
really a laptop. It will be easy to carry, will give you internet and
email access, will serve as an organizer, will let you play games and
watch/listen to media. For extensive typing, you will need an external
keyboard. I don't even think it'll be all that useful to take notes in
class --depending on the volume of notes you need to take, of course.
For writing papers, and heavy work, two things that can be done in a
real laptop, it's not the best choice. So I wouldn't get rid of that
Pismo so fast, if I were you.
