See, comparing the iPad to a PB is a little flawed. The iPad is
designed to be more like a clipboard. It's not meant to replace
computers for everything, just like a clipboard can't replace a
writing desk. Also, the iPad is still under warranty, unlike that G4.

Also, in my fields (journalism and computer science) the iPad makes a
great helper, taking notes (both audio and text) for my college paper
and serving as my instruction manual reader for my excursions into
Linux (and taking things apart). I can also walk with it while using
Skype. It's more easily accessible than a laptop (no setting down and
opening up before the real business starts), has the entire app store
backing it up (unlike the slowly decreasing number of available apps
that G4 will have when Leopard goes the way of Tiger), and has 10
hours of battery life, and then some.

I'm not saying it's perfect for everyone, but it's definitely a better
solution to the problem of mobility than netbooks or iPod touches.
