About the 3rd-party AC adapter, there are some issues with those and Pismos - I have a 3rd-party adapter with mine, and when it is connected, the trackpad starts acting funny (there's an article on apple.com about that...). Other than that, you should be able to get one off eBay pretty quick (the original yo-yos are even worse - the cable often breaks inside the adapter, and it a bit difficult to repair it and still maintain it pretty! :P)
As for the DVD drive, you might be able to use another Mac's drive via FireWire (like the MacBook Air), but I'm not 100% certain of that...
