Battery amnesia (also by Jeremy Kezer) runs in OS9 and has proved invaluable both to test and to resurrect Pismo batteries in the past, however it is $10 shareware (I cannot remember the limitations if it is unregistered, try it and see!) http://www.kezer.net/shareware/amnesia/
What do you mean "resurrect"?
Follow-up to my previous post,
I have just realised that the Pismo is Li-ion, the advice I gave will still work, and is even more useful with new cells as the pack needs to be FULLY charged - discharged - charged again in order to re-calibrate the on-board monitoring circuit. However I would strongly advise AGAINST re-celling a Pismo battery as Li-ion cells are very dangerous if mishandled (I work with them and have seen one do a good impression of a hand grenade when it was deliberately short-circuited (in a "safe" location)). That said, I have done it myself, and if you have access to either "tabbed" cells OR a tab welding rig it can be done, just DON'T try soldering directly to the cells unless you want to qualify for disability benefit!! However if the pack will not run the Pismo at all then you are probably not going to be able to revive it, the control circuitry will not allow the cells to be charged if they have dropped below a safe point (about 3V per cell) as the cell chemistry changes and they could overheat and rupture if they were charged in this state.
Ben.
