Check to make sure nothing is jammed into the slot.

These are absolutely standard parts; the only way the slot on the SO-dimm is in 
'a different place' is if it is a different spec or is itself defective.

Line the SO-dimm up with a known good one if they line up, then something is 
keeping the SO-DIMM form being inserted all the way into the slot.
