Hi, when you say "start into Mac OS 10.4", assuming this from the internal 
HD, then try from a OS boot disk if you have one. Otherwise, if you have 
another Mac, try target disk mode via firewire. A 3rd solution would be an 
external IEEE 1394 system disk.
