G-Books Folks: I actually have taken the Kanga apart, taken out the RAM, the CPU, the hard drive, virtually everything, etc. I checked the Kanga with more than a dozen other hard drives that have various Mac OSes on them, from OS8 to OS9.1, the official Apple-decreed systems. Always the same: The Kanga sounds like it is booting up, but the screen remains white.
Good information about the PRAM batteries from OWC. I have never bought anything from this company because of its very high prices. Yet, I did look there for a PRAM battery. They do not have the type I need for the Kanga, or at least didn't when I looked. I looked on eBay, too, as well as We Love Macs and other places. If anyone knows a store online or in upstate New York that might have a Kanga PRAM battery for sale, that would be very useful information. Because several folks here on the G-Books forum have mentioned the PRAM battery as the likely culprit for my Kanga woes, I am hoping that replacing it — if I can get a new one — will do it. Here's a thought: Does anyone know if the Kanga will run without the PRAM battery installed? I would check this myself but right now a friend who also works on Macs has my Kanga. Sometimes, in some Macs, the PRAM battery can be removed and the computer still will boot. This is true of the Titanium, the Pismo and the Lombard, according to my experience. Has anyone had any luck using a Kanga without the PRAM battery? Thanks for your help.
