I agree with Clark. The fact that the boot screen which should be grey is now light blue suggests that it’s a problem with the video cable or video chip. If you’re lucky, the video cable is just dislodged and can be fixed by reseating. If you’re unlucky, the graphics chip has broken solder connections to the logic board, which was also common on these iBooks. Sometimes placing something within the case to press the graphics chip hard against the logic board can work as a stopgap method, but be certain whatever you use isn’t flammable and is heat resistant. This can bow the plastic case sometimes. Still, I’ve had such a solution work for a long time before. Make sure it’s tight enough not to move if dropped again.
Reflowing the solder of the logic board would be too expensive for such an old iBook, but sometimes you can do it yourself by masking off the graphics chip with layers of foil and using a heat gun to heat the chip to reflow the solder. Placing a tiny piece of solder on top of the chip can show when the heat is enough to flow the solder. Don’t overheat. This is very risky and would only be a last resort method. > On Feb 26, 2016, at 10:56 AM, Clark Martin <[email protected]> wrote: > > Best guesses are: > > An internal connector is dislodged.
