I have a G4 iBook that had a loose video chip. Unfortunately, neither my son 
nor I can remember the exact symptoms, as it was at least 6 years ago that I 
fixed it. I actually reflowed the solder joints to the chip by hand 
(magnifiers, soldering skills, fine-tip iron, and no coffee). It's been 
chugging away booted from an external drive ever since my son replaced it in 
2011.
