No reason why you shouldn't.  I saw this one slashdot a while ago...Using,
IIRC, a long antenna, a signal amplifier, and a parabolic dish, a couple
guys broadcast an 802.11b signal around twenty-five miles.  It was
line-of-sight only, but that's still pretty damn cool.  I don't have a link
handy, but you can probably find it at slashdot's archives.
