I'm pretty sure upgrading the drive doesn't void your warranty or AppleCare, although obviously if you break something while doing the upgrade, the broken stuff won't be covered. There shouldn't be a heat issue. I upgraded my Pismo to the 60G IBM Travelstar almost a year ago and my fan still never comes on and the machine doesn't feel any warmer or cooler than it did with the smaller drive. >Another option would be to buy one of those VST cases and put the new >larger drive in the expansion bay. I would avoid opening up my Pismo >yet again. That would mean basically losing your CD drive. >Perhaps I should replace the 20GB drive in my Pismo with a larger drive >and then put the 20GB drive in the expansion bay. This has all the disadvantages of the other options--you'd have to swap the old drive for the new in your Pismo, and you'd lose your CD drive--without any real advantages. When I did my swap, I got an external FireWire case, put the big drive in it, copied everything from the old drive to the new, then swapped drives. So I have the big drive in my Pismo, and the old drive is a bootable backup. Brian -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
