That won't work, although I won't stop you from trying... here is why: The OS9 copy you are getting from cloning the drive is the exact same copy you could install directly. The reason why these will NOT boot OS 9 is two-fold....
1 - No proper support for the updated bus controllers and the like in 9.2.2 and Apple isn't going to add them, they declared 9 dead awhile ago.
2 - The OF implementation in these machines won't even try to load an OS 9 kernel anymore IIRC. Sure you might be able to force it, but then you would run into a system bomb because of reason 1. (In other words, it has stopped looking for 'blessed' folders and is looking for other information to boot with)

It won't. The drivers you just attempted to pull off of the powerbook would have been for OS X. They won't work under 9. Even if you could figure out which drivers to pull back, they'd be in more than one piece, not just a single file like they were under os 9.
I suppose you could try to clone the drive from another OS9-compatible powerbook with the latest OS9 update. Maybe I'll try that.
